Super Bowl LII is around the corner and while all the die hard sports fans are ready to cheer on their favorite team, I’ll be in the kitchen cooking and baking up a storm. The Super Bowl is my excuse to make something yummy and bing watch the commercials. This year I thought there’s no better way to celebrate the football season than with themed cupcakes.
When I started thinking about potential concepts, I definitely wanted to incorporate a football but I also wanted to make them stand out a bit more. I needed something unique that would push the wow factor over the edge. After doing a bit of research I discovered Pink is set to sing the National Anthem. I was super excited by this because I’ve always enjoyed her music. She’s an amazing artist, has a killer vocal range, and sings while dangling from aerial silks. Can it get any better than that? I think not!
The cupcakes I made include a green frosting (made with white frosting and green food coloring) to represent the turf. I also added a football using chocolate and white icing, and Pink’s face is made out of a sugar cookie and royal icing. And of course I had to match her hair, sunglasses, and red lips with her newest album cover for Beautiful Trauma.
I had a lot of fun making these cupcakes in celebration of the Super Bowl LII. Are you making any themed desserts for the Super Bowl? If so, what? Leave your notes in the comments section below.
